Billy and Chris’s story began in the quiet intimacy of the pandemic, where a first date over to-go Italian and a shared bottle of wine became something far more meaningful.
What started as a simple evening quickly revealed a deeper connection: butterflies for Billy, and an undeniable sense of certainty for Chris.
When Chris knew Billy was his person, he chose to reflect that beginning in a way that felt intentional and true to them, bringing him to a winery in Sonoma reminiscent of that very first bottle of wine. There, surrounded by garden views and with their beloved dog Rusty as witness, he proposed; creating a full-circle moment rooted in memory, place, and meaning.
That same thoughtfulness carried into how they chose to celebrate. Rather than something overproduced or overwhelming, Billy and Chris prioritized a wedding experience that allowed them—and their guests—to feel fully present. They gathered their closest family and friends in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, where Billy’s family had long called home, intentionally stepping away from the pace of San Francisco to create space for connection.
The weekend began along the May River with a welcome party that felt both relaxed and deeply considered. Live music, watercolor guest portraits, and a full moon rising over the water set the tone—not just for a beautiful event, but for a weekend designed to be experienced, not rushed through.
With just 85 guests in attendance, their wedding day reflected a clear priority: time well spent. Billy and Chris chose to get ready together, intentionally building in space to connect with one another and with their closest people before the ceremony began. It’s these kinds of decisions that shift a wedding from a timeline to a lived experience, where nothing feels performative, and every moment feels like your own.
The reception design echoed that same balance of intention and ease. Romantic yet grounded, the space layered natural textures with refined details; branching centerpieces that brought the outdoors in, leather-accented menus, and a setting that felt inviting rather than overly formal. Every element supported the atmosphere they wanted to create: warm, personal, and effortlessly sophisticated.
Instead of a series of speeches, a single toast from Billy’s father on behalf of both families created a shared moment of reflection; one that felt inclusive, heartfelt, and genuinely connected to everyone in the room.
From there, the celebration unfolded naturally. The dance floor filled, conversations lingered, and the evening transitioned seamlessly into an intimate after-party tucked inside the River House speakeasy—an understated, intentional close to a weekend that never felt rushed or over-scripted.
Billy and Chris’s wedding reflects what happens when you design with clarity, when you prioritize presence over production, connection over excess, and meaning over expectation. It’s not just about how it looks, but how it feels to move through it—and how fully you’re able to experience it alongside the people who matter most.
